Life At Best
Life at its best is Very Brief … Like the falling of a leaf.
High in the tree the tiny bud grew until it was a full leaf spreading towards the heavens, glorying in the life flowing in its veins, basking in the sunny expanse above. Green and thriving, it was seated confidently in its lofty place. After many days the seasons began to change. The supply of life to the leaf gradually ebbed away and it became dry and discolored. Soon its weakened stem broke from the tree and the leaf began its downward course. Though it was momentarily borne upward by passing winds, it always resumed its descent. In a short time it joined others who had passed the same way to the cold damp ground beneath, where there was no glory, no more encouraging winds, no more life. Its life at best was very brief.
God likens man to a leaf. Isaiah 64:6 says, “we all do fade as a leaf.” Man experiences a certain kind of life – human life. This is in many respects a wonderful life. Yet none could argue; this wonderful life is fading one. Over and over again it tells the same story, ever announcing that its supply is limited, its span is brief, every crying out that there is something missing, something lacking.
Yet there is another life – an ever-new, ever-living, ever-green life that is wonderful in every aspect and short of nothing. Jesus said, “I came that they may have life and may have it abundantly” (John 10:10). God has offered His own life to us. When we have Him, we experience the life of the One who is evergreen.
If you want to experience the wonderful life of Jesus Christ, pray the following prayer with deep sincerity: “Lord Jesus, my life is fading away. Everything is so temporary. The enjoyment of living is growing less and less. I do want to receive the life You came to giveme, so I ask You to come into me now and fill me with Your life.”
Therefore if any man be in Christ he is a new creation: old things are passed away; behold all things are become new. 2 Cor. 5:17
